ZenBusiness Alternatives for Alaska Registered Agent Service
Alaska registered agent service at a flat $99 per year. Physical address, scanned legal mail, compliance alerts. Renewals stay the same price.
Alaska Registered Agent.co publishes this comparison and sells the competing service in it. That interest is declared here rather than buried, and every ZenBusiness figure quoted is the company's own advertised rate, verifiable on their site without taking our word for anything.
Credit First: The Platform
ZenBusiness has built one of the more capable software experiences in this industry. The dashboard is coherent, onboarding is fast, and formation records, compliance items, and agent documents live in one interface rather than three. Buyers who value that consolidation are getting something real for their money, and a price comparison that ignores product quality is an incomplete comparison.
Worth saying directly, then: an owner already running formation, bookkeeping add-ons, and filings through that account has a coherent reason to keep the agent service there too. Consolidation has a value, even if it is not the value being advertised on the price tag. The comparison below is for the reader who wants the statutory service and nothing bundled around it.
Two Prices, Not One
The pricing structure is where the analysis turns. ZenBusiness sells registered agent service standalone at $99 plus state fees for the initial year. Renewal is $199 annually. Both numbers are published; neither is concealed. But only one of them describes the long-run cost of the relationship, and it is not the one that appears in advertising.
| Year | ZenBusiness (standalone RA) | Alaska Registered Agent.co |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $99 + state fees | $99 |
| 2 | $199 | $99 |
| 3 | $199 | $99 |
| 4 | $199 | $99 |
| Cumulative | $694 + state fees | $396 |
The introductory year makes the two services look equivalent. Every year after separates them by $100. An entity that keeps the same agent for a decade pays roughly a thousand dollars more under a step-up structure than under a flat one, for a role Alaska law defines identically in both cases.
The Flat-Rate Position

Order HereWhat Alaska Registered Agent.co provides for $99 per year:
| Component | Included |
|---|---|
| Annual rate | $99, with renewal at the same figure |
| Service of process | Scanned and emailed the business day it arrives |
| Registered office | Compliant Alaska street address under AS 10.50.055 |
| Public record | Our address appears on state filings, not yours |
| Compliance alerts | Biennial report reminders included |
| Only auxiliary charge | $15 per item for scanning non-legal mail |
One qualification on the price, stated plainly because the claim would otherwise overreach: $99 is not the lowest published rate in Alaska. BetterLegal advertises $90. Our position is that $99 ranks with the lowest yearly figures available in this state and holds that number permanently, which is a different and more durable advantage than winning a sticker comparison by nine dollars.
Switching From ZenBusiness in Alaska: Form 08-409
The filing is a Statement of Change of Registered Agent, form number 08-409, submitted to Alaska's Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing. The fee is $25 and the change is effective when the Division files it. Alaska maintains no Secretary of State, so any vendor documentation directing you to that office should be read as pointing at the Division instead.
Sequence matters more than speed. Appoint the incoming agent before submitting the form: 08-409 requires the new agent's Alaska physical address and Alaska mailing address as completed fields, and filing in that order eliminates any interval in which your entity appears on the state's record without an agent. Alaska does not tolerate a gap in the registered agent requirement, and there is no reason to create one.
A timing note specific to Alaska entities. The biennial report, due January 2 of your filing year at $100 for a domestic LLC with a $37.50 late penalty, cannot carry an agent change. Even if the report and the switch fall in the same month, the state requires the separate 08-409 filing. Owners who assume the report handles it discover otherwise after the fact.
Finally, the change of record does not end the old subscription. Cancel with ZenBusiness directly once the Division's database reflects the new agent.
